J.POD – A Rapidly Deployable, Flexible Manufacturing Facility for Biologics
Our mission at Just-Evotec Biologics is to design and apply innovative technologies to dramatically expand global access to biotherapeutics. We use innovative technologies from molecular design through process development and manufacturing to reduce manufacturing costs and improve speed to clinic and market. Our new J.POD facility in Redmond, WA represents the culmination of our design, development and manufacturing principles in a state of the art, single use, commercial scale manufacturing facility. J.POD uses modular, autonomous cleanrooms to minimize the necessary cleanroom space and reduce the cost of the facility. The cleanroom pods can be installed in any appropriately sized warehouse space with minimal capital investment which allows facilities to be deployed anywhere in the world. Intensified cell culture and downstream processes allow the production of metric tons of antibodies in a single J.POD facility. The first J.POD facility in Redmond, WA was made operational and GMP ready in 16 months from the shell construction during the height of the pandemic. The flexible design will allow various process configurations from fed batch to continuous perfusion with continuous downstream processing, helping to enable the vision of accessible, low cost, biotherapeutics.
This talk will be within the technical session “T4 Distribution Manufacturing: How Does it Fit Into Our Future?”
