Success and Challenges in AI-Driven Antibody Discovery– From Humanoid Antibodies to de novo Design
Machine learning has become an integral part of antibody discovery and development. I will describe how we designed the J.HAL antibody discovery library with a generative machine learning method and share experimental results from recent discovery campaigns. I will also outline our computational approach to the problem of antigen-specific antibody design, provide in silico validation of the approach, and describe our plans for experimental validation.

Josh SmithPrincipal Scientist, Molecular DesignJosh Smith is a Principal Scientist at Just – Evotec Biologics, where he leads the Just Data Science team. His team develops machine learning models and software products to support more efficient biologics discovery, design, and process development. As an individual contributor, he has conceived of, created, and productionized multiple ML-based tools for antibody assessment and design. Before joining Just, he earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering with an Advanced Data Science option at the University of Washington, Seattle.
